Why post-tensioning is common in UAE towers
Post-tensioned (PT) slabs allow longer spans and thinner floor depths than conventionally reinforced concrete, which is why they're the default floor system in much of Dubai and Abu Dhabi's residential and commercial tower stock. Designing a PT slab correctly requires careful tendon layout, balanced load calculation, and coordination with MEP penetrations before the slab is cast โ errors here are expensive to fix after the fact. This is closely tied to finite element analysis structural UAE, which many clients need alongside it.
Analysis-led tendon design
We use finite element analysis to verify slab behaviour under service and ultimate load combinations, size and lay out tendons for balanced load efficiency, and coordinate penetration zones with MEP and architectural teams before issue for construction. For the full authority process, see our guide: Dubai Municipality Structural Approval: The Complete Guide.
Technical methodology
Slab behaviour is verified with finite element analysis before tendon layout is finalized, using SAFE and ADAPT-Builder to confirm the design performs correctly under both service and ultimate load combinations โ not sized from a rule-of-thumb span table.
