Handing over these points at the first meeting โ rather than discovering them one email at a time โ is the single biggest thing a client can do to speed up a structural design engagement.
- Project location and the authority that governs it
- Building type and intended use
- Number of floors and approximate floor areas
- Any known constraints โ budget, programme, or an existing structure to work around
- A preferred design code basis, if the client has one
- Key stakeholders involved: owner, contractor, architect, developer
This checklist is a preparation aid, not professional advice for a specific project โ every project should still be reviewed individually.
