A load takedown is only as accurate as the inputs behind it. These are the details worth confirming before calculations begin, regardless of project size.
- Confirmed use/occupancy for every area (residential, storage, retail, plant)
- Finishes and partition loads for each floor
- Racking, equipment or plant loads, where applicable
- Roof type and access classification (accessible vs non-accessible)
- Site wind exposure category
- Seismic zone classification, where applicable to the project
- Any future load allowance to build in now (a future floor, future racking, etc.)
This checklist is a preparation aid, not professional advice for a specific project โ every project should still be reviewed individually.
